While these cruiser bicycles have been termed as beach cruiser bicycles they are not just limited to the beach but all the semi-flat type of ground that you see around your neighborhood. They can be ridden along large lakes, college campuses, large urban cities and flat rural areas. They have grown in popularity amongst people of all ages from all communities.
Beach cruiser bicycles were first manufactured in the 1930′s by Frank Schwinn during the Great Depression. These bikes were targeted at the youth market that majorly consisted of the working population. Their popularity caught upon a huge number of customers around the world throughout the 1950′s. The quintessential beach cruiser bikes have faced a drastic evolution in their design and style since then. Additional features like Springer fork suspension, motorcycle-style horn tanks, extensive chrome plating and fringed saddlebags were seen jeweled on these bikes. Also there were models introduced in the British market that were lighter, sporty and had multi-speed features.
